Repeat Prescriptions
Ordering a Repeat Prescription
If you need certain medications on a regular basis, you do not always need to see a doctor for a repeat prescription.
You can request a repeat prescription in various ways:
- Via the NHS App
- Via our online platform, AccuRx
- Ask your pharmacist to request it on your behalf
- By marking what you need on the right hand side of your printed prescription.
From time to time you will be asked to come in and see the doctor for a review of your treatment before the prescription is issued.
We regret we cannot accept requests over the telephone. This is to minimise the risk of error and to keep the telephone lines free for urgent calls.
Please note that we require 2 complete working days notice for repeat prescriptions.
When you order a prescription online, you can have it sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. This is called a nomination.
Medication Queries
Please get in touch with the surgery to raise a query about your medication.
Medication Reviews
In order to ensure safe and effective use of medications you should have a medication review with a healthcare professional approximately once a year.
We may contact you to have additional blood tests, blood pressure checks or other reviews as needed.
If your reviews are very overdue we may have to reduce the quantities of your medication. In some cases it may not be possible to prescribe your medication until you have a review for safety reasons.
We are fortunate to have clinical pharmacists working in our team. They look at many areas of medication and patient care.
